Chicago Restaurant Highlight: Batter & Berries is a MUST-VISIT!

Super French Toast Flight

“Batter & Berries is the epitome of fresh, offering enticing meals with contemporary twists.”

Looking to add another restaurant to your favorites list? Well I’ve got one for you – Batter & Berries! A new restaurant on the block, Chef Derek Rylon (pictured below along with his friendly staff) has already shown off his culinary skills. With a menu featuring strawberry waffles with homemade maple butter and fresh strawberries, pulled pork sandwiches with homemade seasoned fries and steak omelets with sweet potato hash browns, you’ll always find something to delight your taste buds.

It’s okay if your mouth started watering. I won’t judge.

If you’re like me, weekend brunches have a very special place in your heart. I look forward to a lazy morning, then a trip to one of my go-to breakfast spots to indulge in my favorite breakfast foods. Boy oh boy is Batter & Berries the perfect spot for that – freshly made coffee, melt in your mouth French toast, sweet potato hash browns and crunchy bacon, all just the way you ordered. I couldn’t stop smiling! And to top it off, you’re served by a happy, quick witted waitress who gets your food requests jotted down and off to the chef like they’re high priority!

If you hadn’t noticed, I’m a huge fan of French toast – I couldn’t pass up their Super Flight of French Toast Special. It included blueberry, caramel, pineapple, lemon zest, and strawberry – can I say WOW, YUM and Oooooooo?! Too amazed by the awesomeness that was this French toast, I didn’t even let a drop of syrup touch my plate. My friends were also enamored by their dishes, my roomie having gotten the blueberry waffle (with this delicious maple butter) and my friend the full plate of lemon zest French toast.

Happily crunching away on some bacon, sharing some laughs and enjoying the sunny art displayed on the walls, we all concluded that Batter & Berries was totally worth another visit – after all, we were too full to even contemplate their lunch menu. That, I’m sure, is worth its own post somewhere in the near future :)

I had the pleasure of going to this unique place. The idea of a black owned restaurant in Lincoln Park may not be new but it is unique. The “chef” Derek has one of a kind items that seem to be ahead of the commopn curve! Everyone should try the waffles. Oh….dont forget the buffalo chicken sandwich!!!!! Keep up the excdellent work!

Oh wow! I’ll have to check out the waffles – I only had the amazing french toast. I was really happy, actually, to learn they were a black owned business. Made the experience even better!

Thanks a ton for your comment!!!!
